Seven Line Blog Challenge

I was recently invited by a Goodreads friend, Hazel West, to participate in an author Seven/Seven blog challenge.

It sounded like a fun way to give a sneak peek into whatever book you are working on and increase exposure for others' work as well as your own.

These are the rules:

    1. Choose seven lines from page 7 or page 77 of your current work in progress.

    2. Invite seven other writers to post the same and link back to you.

    3. Mention and link back to the person who nominated you

Okay, here are my seven lines from page 7 of the next book in The Glister Journals series (rough draft). I am excited about introducing this new character. Background: On the first day of Allison's sophomore year, in a new class, a student has followed the teacher into the room, talking non-stop:

“Take a seat Benjamin,” she said patiently. “We’ll have to talk another time.”

He seemed about average height for a boy—probably about the same height as me—and very slim. His hair was mostly hidden under a cap but appeared to be straight, wispy, and dark auburn. His brows were very dark and straight, his eyes also dark and slightly almond-shaped. There was an attractive but foreign, almost other-worldly look about him.

“Okay,” he said lightly and turned to find a seat. As he did so he looked straight at me, his expression open, and though his lips were closed his smile was wide. I found myself returning it.

I will add participants as I hear back from them.

Participating authors:

Hazel West's seven line entry is here on her blog, Hazel West's Character Purgatory. Thanks again Hazel!

I'm still waiting on answers, but would love to add a few more authors to the challenge. If you'd like to participate, please leave a comment!
